Assalamualaikum...

As for myself n lots of others, this block is lapang sebab banyak kali kelas cancel(banyak kelas dgn doc clinical), we had learnt a lot of anatomy(the best part) and the diseases are neither many nor complicated as last block. Owh, plus the programme is also less as our friends from semester would prepare for the final. So, for those who realize these, i'm so sure they would survive this block very well if they are well prepared. Also, some who realize it but take it for granted, habes la...

So lessons learnt;
1. Keep you notes arranged, according to the subject especially
2. Hold on tight to your study group (this may be vary to other)
3. Do not procrastinate to revise the notes as soon as you have them
4. Understand and involve in the PBL well
5. Do the Qs bank esp for essay & SN
6. Revise tuto
7. Lots of prayers and usaha and sentiasa berlapang dada with others

* I came to realize that studying and revising in the study group helps me a lot, like to hear the comments, the true facts and tips from mates, easier to understand and memorize.

Lastly, block GIT has passed, and passed very fast, some pics from this block...

Assalamualaikum...

Just after we finished our pbl, Nad and I went to UIA new masjid, plus we were gladly welcomed by one of the contractors...Dah lama tunggu bila masjid ni nak siap, dah lama kot...alhamdulilah dah nak siap, kate kak tu dalam proses penyerahan kepada UIA.

Memang design typical masjid zaman sekarang macam ni, dewan solat di tengah, di peripheral ruang untuk orang lalu lalang, Masjid Besi, Masjid Kristal, Masjid Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang pun camni jugak. Masjid UIA ni lengkap dengan air-cond , kipas dan exhaust supaya angin panas tak terkumpul lalu tak kepam la orang di dalamnya..

p/s: Tengok gaya sekarang, bulan depan dah boleh start diutilizekan masjid ni, best! boleh dengar ceramah Ust Azhar :)

Yesterday was a hectic day but fill with joy. Due to very grand preparation the previous night, we depart a bit late (we leave 1 hour later from planned)...then off we go to Sg Pandan, the road was not so good, so sorry to mama's car, just wash it after exam...

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil adha....Here with my roommates

See, i do eat a lot(driving always makes me superhungry), Lini's uncle did cook many delicious delicacy....that i try them all ; nasi lemak, nasi minyak & NASI DAGANG

Thats is actually after solat raya...rewind...

We leaved at 7 am or so, lead by Shera and Aina at most back (those who know the way)

Then we parked at Lini's and ready for solat raya

After solat, we listened to the khutbah, reminding us to the sirah of Prophet Ibrahim and his son, Prophet Ismail.

The people wasn't as as many as those going to Masjid Terapung(Trg) or Masjid Taman TAR (KL) or Masjid Sultan Sulaiman(Klang) , but then the most imporant is that we gathered to be remembered and learned the lesson of scarifying and obedient.

Then, as told by Lini, the meal will be ready after the kurban and all so i've packed up some bread & jam. Fortunately for us, Lini's uncle has prepared some that enough to feed us all, plus he owned a restaurant...lucky us!

Usually during Eid al-adha, after solat raya, my family and i would went back home and change our clothes to see the kurban at the back of our house, then we'll take our kurban part, divide it and zaim would sent it to the houses as command by papa.

Alhamdulilah, selesai sudah majlis berbuka puasa dan takbir selepas solat maghrib dan isya'. Diserikan lagi dgn tazkirah daripada Saudara Bunyamin the batch leader.

Semasa alunan takbir tadi , ada terdengar isk...isk... ni mesti teringat raya kat rumah. InsyaAllah esok buat julung kalinya beraya di perantauan, 11 kereta akan berkonvoi ke rumah Lini di Cherating. Semoga perjalanan kami diberkati Allah dan dipermudahkan.

The sunnas of Eid al-Adha include:

him twice, 'I am fasting." The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam)
added, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the
mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of
musk. (Allah says about the fasting person), 'He has left his food, drink
and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting
person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times."

A bedouin with unkempt hair came to Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa
Sallam) and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Inform me what Allah has made
compulsory for me as regards the prayers." He replied: "You have to offer
perfectly the five compulsory prayers in a day and night (24 hours), unless
you want to pray Nawafil." The bedouin further asked, "Inform me what Allah
has made compulsory for me as regards fasting." He replied, "You have to
fast during the whole month of Ramadan, unless you want to fast more as
Nawafil." The bedouin further asked, "Tell me how much Zakat Allah has
enjoined on me." Thus, Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam)
informed him about all the rules (i.e. fundamentals) of Islam. The bedouin
then said, "By Him Who has honored you, I will neither perform any Nawafil
nor will I decrease what Allah has enjoined on me. Allah's Apostle
(Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "If he is saying the truth, he will
succeed (or he will be granted Paradise)."

Just skimming the FB the other day and I saw this, so i got the idea of asking few seniors for tips especially when i realized that we only have 8 weeks for each block, hope this could help us prepare for the Pro.

- wajib ader stadi group. cthnyer. akak ni mmg jenis stadi sendiri sbab akak ader pace akak tp ntuk pro, mmg kene ader stadi group. mmg menolong sangat2. tp ader syarat2 dier, lantik seorang ketua yang tegas ntuk kawal schedule, distribute tugas2 n bahagi2 masa ntuk flexibility. then, jangan bincang topik2 yang kecik2. boleh je budget aper yg penting drs etiap system. kene aware la time lecture aper yg di highlight.

My Year 2 Experience
I would like to stress that this is just my opinion and experience. You are most welcome to question or disagree with anything.

Well to be really honest, year 2 is where I felt more like a medical student. The reason is simply because we got to learn more about diseases. With that being said, a good command of year 1 background was paramount. So my first advice is NEVER chuck your notes unarranged. It will definitely come in handy in year 2 especially for professional exams.

Let us start with the rule of thumb I used for year 2 (Again this may vary from individuals). Anatomy -> Physiology -> Pathology -> Pharmacology. I would make sure I understand the anatomy of something first before I start revising my physiology. And knowing the normal body functions before then understanding the problems and lastly where in the problems can the drugs play its part.

The ultimate goal of year 2 is of course the Professional Examination. But trust me, as long as you are consistent for every block in year 2, it should not be a problem. The year 1 topics were the ones I had difficulties recalling in my professional exam. However, allow me to go block by block.

Year 2 Block 1 was on Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Hematology systems. Honestly, this was the most difficult block for me. I was not used to the fact that in year 2 we have only 8 weeks and no time to really play. I remember year 1 where the first 3 weeks of the block was like ‘goyang kaki’ because the common rationale was ‘minitest lambat lagi’. But that can no longer be applied; consistency is very important in year 2. You have only 4 weeks before minitest as compared to 7 in year 1. If possible finish revising the notes of that week by Sunday. That was how I planned it. All daily notes I got in that week I made sure by Sunday 11pm I have gone through them. Sounds easy? Actually you may wonder then; when is the free time? Banyak jer! Nak keluar main semua boleh memang sempat. Sometimes I made sure I finish all the notes by Saturday so I can have the Sunday for other activities. Or if you are behind in studies for that week maybe because sibuk during weekdays night (program,activity,usrah etc) make sure that weekend you try to cover.

But in terms of the content of Year 2 Block1, it was the most important for our professional exam. 2 Essays came from this block; Anatomy and Hematology. Use the hematology tutorial classes to the fullest as it will help you dearly for PBLs and OSPE! I remember every tutorial classes we had to interpret Full Blood Count, and as expected, 3-4 OSPE stations were on Full Blood Count interpretation. All we needed to do was be alert during the tutorial and Insya Allah we can answer it. Rajin2 la buat workbook tu nanti ye! Jangan la tiru kawan, memang rugi. By the end of the block, MCV MCH normal range semua mesti dah terer and it helps you a lot during PBLS in the subsequent blocks.

Year 2 Block 2 was my favorite block as it had Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Systems. Our PBQ case for Professional Exam was regarding a patient with Jaundice and he had hepatitis eventually. This block has A LOT OF anatomy but mostly revising year 1. The bulk of parasitology lectures from year 1 will be in this block as well. So if you have mastered year 1 lectures InsyaAllah this block tak susah sangat. Tapi use the same principle like I said , cover every week by the end of the week.

Year 2 Block 3 was on Endocrine and Genitourinary Systems. A bit more difficult but it helps if we correlate the biochemistry lecture with the physiology lecture. This block needs a lot of thought flow thinking. Contohnya, yang ni pergi sini pastu jadi pastu pergi situ and so on. Understanding is the key. In exams you can always write back in your own words kan…? This time prof Pakeer asked us to be serious for Professional Exam but honestly gear tak masuk lagi. However, it helps if you start revising the year 1 notes now.

Finally, Year 2 Block 4 was on Nervous and Locomotor Systems. This was a challenging block in terms of studying because we actually learnt the physiology of most of the central nervous systems before learning the anatomy. Many students struggled during minitest because of it. I hope they change back to the older system for the next batch. This was the time when I started to revise my year 1 notes for professional exams. But since most of us struggled during Neuroanatomy lectures, my sincere advice is definitely not to rely on lecture notes soleoly. It makes more sense when we read from the books.

Lastly for Professional examinations; try to cover everything once. If you cant do it yourself, try forming a study group and cover according to systems. Of course you should start this as early as Block 3 if possible. Do not study just what you think lecturer may have hinted ONLY. But be smart! Focus on it and cover the rest. I honestly believe there is no such thing as waste of time going through all the previous notes once AT LEAST. But In the 2 weeks study period before exam; have a timetable, goals and target to achieve. I set mine 3 days per block. But It varies according to different people. Teaching each other during makan-makan also helps.

Second year has never halted anyone from joining activities, programmes, visiting families , usrahs and the occasional trip to water falls, but always try to have a goal for that week and Allah will help you. Never let the fear of failing keep you away from focusing to study. Studying should befun.But most of us are burdening our minds with that fear. Turn it into a positive stress and that can motivate us to study.

i would to add on pbl.. most of us macam amek leka tentang pbl ,but trust me pbl is really helpful if u understand the signs and symptoms.. most of signs and symptoms that will come out in pbq are based on pbl...
in second year also,u will be exposed to wat is called as case discussion.basically like pbl, but u have all from trigger 1 to 4 with provisional diagnosis,try to stdy focus that also. One more thing that i would like to add is about clinical lectures. u guys will have alot of classes with clinician/peds/surgeon etc.. it will not come out in essay,sn. but trust me it will come out in mcq like 10 to 15 questions (10*5=50 marks dah).most of us tinggal menda ni, n gagal score mcq.. try to cover that also(if u cover pbl,u will cover this part )

Please do take PBL seriously. It helps dearly!! It is not that always you can have a 2 hour session with lecturers of 30 years of experience. Use that time to ask them questions and get to know them as well. They are there to help us

Please dont make PBL a burden, it is when you say it is. It is the platform for preparing us for year 3.

firstly, azmad, congratz buddy, the note was neat, insyaAllah,hope they would take your advice to their hearts, and betul kate majid and di emphasize by azmad, PBL is the way of getting ready for 3rd year and untuk PBQ paper gak, the flow would be the almost the same, accordingly and believe me, got hold of PBL, insyaAllah PBQ you wouldnt net to strive that much to score good marks, tp silapnye students kite ramai nak habeskan PBL cepat2, tu yg smp terkejar2 nak discuss, sampai kalu blh terus nak bg diagnosis je,( bukan kate semua, segelintir), ;P

and friendly reminder to all, as mentioned by azmad, Y2B1 is indeed a challenging one, sebab the transition from the environment of Y1 to Y2, you may have to change your ways of approaching the subjects, but dont make this as a wall to stop you from passing, prioritize, fokus on your aim, kalu sibuk cam mane pun dgn seminar ke, societies ke, studies always comes first,and istiqamah and persevere, if ade yang try to keep u from the right path, tolong tolak tepi all those things,i learn that lesson the hard way, so i dont want it to happened to any of you, just my 2 cents though, have a great 2nd year ahead,

Azmad and Majid was right. PBL is really important. You should prepare for it. I was in the same PBL grp with Majid in year 2. Honestly, I have to say that I really respect Majid in PBQ. He really prepared for it.

Dont worry you spent a lot of time to prepare yourself for PBL. Let me tell you my story. Majid must have realize it. For block 3, I really3 prepared myself for PBL. Yes. My marks was extremely high. But, in block 4, I was too focus on the pro exam that i tend to neglect PBL. Buat endah tak endah jer. Tak snggp utk spent time for PBL. As a result, cumulative marks was not high. My marks for final exam was the best I ever had but because of my cumulative marks (PBL) was not so good, the total marks tak der beza dgn the previous block. That is my mistake!

Oh one more. I can suggest that you do it like this. Starting in block 1, spent the weekday studying for the block and the weekends for pro exam. Not the entire weekend. That is what I did.

Finally, after conflictingly choosing either Air Terjun Panching and Pantai Sepat , we picked the second one hoping the whether is ok. 3 cars all the way from UIA the day after 2.5 hours of squeezing our brain out(ceh xdela...) brought us to the 'playground'. Pantai Sepat is the longest pantai i've been in Kuantan. So, we went to the edge , we the was a very shallow anak sungai(reckon so..). Ida said there's another one after the small river, so we try to searched for it...sometime after that...

Ni pantai ape ke namenye? menyebabkan kami hilang sejam camtu je, pantai lawa (tengok belakang, tak sampai semeter dari air)

After several forward and reverse, we reached there, i couldn't recall its name. It's a beautiful beach i can see only if the visitors before us are responsible enough to know the right place to throw their rubbish. Thus, we decided to angkat kaki and headed to what we had decided earlier.

Instead of what Prof Jamal tell about the best food is from home, i went to Restoran Nasi Arab Pak Lim, not so far from Berjaya...recommended by several friends, i went there with several other mates, few days ago. I thought it going to be full and massive , but to my surprise, we are among the few customers ,so don't bother about ordering the meal earlier. The rice taste good, you should come and try.

we ordered 1 talam, divided into 2, 5 people each talam

the last time we eat in talam would be during the Zenith's iftor

It is so delicious that we finished it in no time and even tambah nasi some more. Of course it couldn't beat Ar-rawsya Nasi Mandy, but it worth the price, reckon so.

Block 4 has been a bit hard on me, but think positively, jangan jadi keladak kehidupan^_^... btw , this morning our pbl group5 was having our first community service (hutang blok lepas) which also our first time eating out together (breakfast je pun, but still best). The location is at the playground somewhere in IM?, it took us less than 2 hour to finished up before we heard tazkirah from nad and went home.

Doing this community service is a very, very good idea indeed, we can help others, help strengthen our ukhuwah and give IIUM a good impression.hehe... congrate for those who initiate the idea.

Back then when i was in DQ, KLIBF has been awaited event every year(though for 2 years only). I would planned with my classmates and ustazah to go there together. We would take the Kuala Kubu train straight to PWTC , the train ran slowly (i was so patient that time, before i realize how rapid is LRT) and sometime make few stops, old train i guess. Then after making round to every booth possible and making bargain for best price(cheapest possible) and avoiding the Linguaphone people. There the hard time came, to go back to DQ. There was soo many people that i was just pray along the way that the train won't fall apart, sometime we missed the train on purpose to let everything settled down so we can have more comfortable space for quite long journey(it took me more than hour to get back to DQ).

Now, it was totally different, i am not in DQ anymore, so usually i went there from my grandma house in Ampang. And it takes less than 30 minutes to PWTC, alhamdulilah. Life has never been easier...^_^

So, last few days i went there with my brother, Hakim. There's lot of people as usual. The day before i went there alone to skim few books and review some more and searched some more. I got this list of suggested books to buy from my previous lecturer who always reminds us, less more like this,
"Bila masuk Kuantan, jangan lupa ilmu agama, duit jangan berkira untuk beli buku, baca tak baca lain kira, nanti tiba masa buku2 tu akan berguna, kat rumah mesti ada mini library"

The bookfair is ok, but i'm just hoping that there would be more new book and less booth with same book, perhaps a special counter to help the visitor to find certain subject of book or maybe give suggestion of the book title also open more space like last year, they extend it to the hall across the river. And I like it they extend the period till a week.

iv rehydration > make small incision at site(saphenous vein) just anterior and superior to medial melleolus, canulate the vein, rehydrate > rehydrate intraosseous(right into the bone)

Today i am so happy and motivated after the talk by Prof Muhaya. Never been i imagine meeting her in person...hehe ^_^

with comittees and VIPs; syera, fatimah, me,elle, farah, hamizah,k tikah, yani, k. kai, bro syarif, bro syed, Pak Nasa, Prof Muhaya, NI(i think she prefer this initial), qilah

Sometime (most of the time for me), we always have the inferior feeling of ourselves, if we could achieve the thing that we have the thought to do. Yup, I always have the doubt that if i ever can do something big or make a change of a norm that i always need someone to hold on to. Ideas from Prof's talk make me feel better somehow, hope it would stay as such...

life is beautiful, what you aspect is what you gonna get, so either you make things happen or waiting it to happen

put all hope, tawakal to Allah as He is the only One who can help us

avoid thought that can weaken yourself

always have the positive image of yourself

heals yourself before you heals the other

throw away your ego, be humble, mangaku your ignorance

Assalamualaikum...

Just came back from Dungun, Publication and Information bureau of MSC organized a trip to Rumah Ehsan. It took abou 2 hours for us to reach there and as Dr. Syamsul said, the place is very peaceful and charming. The landscape is so beautiful (well, the space should give tranquility to its resident).

Upon arriving, we're given taklimat regarding the whole necessary we have to know before doing the scheduled activity.

4 wards here, 2 for each male and female. A lot of experience i got, 1001 things happen.
We got the chance to fed them, listen to them etc...
(we're only allowed to take pic of the resident there from the back, privacy matter)

good job catering, we eat brunch, lunch and tea here...we ate many times..more than enough i would say

Lastly, as token of appreciation from us .
Ayep(PM), Mr. Fauzi and Bun(PC)

I gain something here, hopefully to meet again all the resident next 3 years(Public Health 4th year)...

Yesterday i went to anat workshop, now i can see how important is to remember and understand our body structure also how easily-forgetting person i am...Thanks to group members (kak Zawanah ans Anas 3rd yr, kak Fatin 4th year, diana 2nd yr and maliya) for sharing your thought and knowledge to this empty glass junior.

Now i realize more how lot of things that i've been forgetting, things that so crucial to help a person lives on. After we have the PBQ(bella, i'll email you the slide we've made...), we have sharing moment so everyone must have something to be said. One thing a final year sis said that, in no matter what, how intelligent we are, one thing that we must take a very good care is our Attitude.

Then Amazing Race Anatomy, 20 check points(can you imagine?), running like crazy around the KOM(i realize better, KOM is bigger than i thought).

Alhamdulilah, just finish Ust Syauqi forum(multiple talk i guess). After the forum, we have a moment with Ust Syauqi, cause he wanted to give us tausiyah....guess what? he still remember my name, also his ex-students who he taught some years ago, clearly show how he appreciates us as his students(he called us as his asset).

He advised us to always have the eager to find knowledge (religious) because as we will face the later challenge that we need to equipped ourselves with the shield.

Cities across Egypt witnessed unprecedented protests on Friday with tens of thousands of protesters taking to the streets after noon prayers

Egyptian authorities have blocked internet and mobile services in a bid to quell anti-government protests, but the measures may have come a bit too late.

Activists spread the word online about Friday's protests, detailing the list of public squares where people should gather.

(This one clearly show that Mubarak doesn't listen to the people to step down)

The Egyptian president has dismissed his government, saying he will replace it with a new one on Saturday.

"I have asked the government to resign and tomorrow there will be a new government," Hosni Mubarak said in an address to the nation in the early hours of Saturday after four days of deadly protests.

The president said that change can not be achieved through chaos but through dialogue.

Saying he understood that the people of Egypt wanted him to address poverty, employment and democratic reform, he promised to press ahead with social, economic and political reforms.

"We will not backtrack on reforms. We will continue with new steps which will ensure the independence of the judiciary and its rulings, and more freedom for citizens," Mubarak said.

He said new steps will be taken "to contain unemployment, raise living standards, improve services and stand by the poor".

Reacting to the protests that have erupted in the capital and other cities, Mubarak urged calm, adding that only because of his own reforms over the years were people able to protest.

Mona El Tahawy, an Egyptian columnist and author living in the US, dismissed these comments.

"There is no political freedom in Egypt, that's exactly why the protests happened," she said.

"If there were political freedoms, we wouldn't see 12,000 to 14,000 political dissidents in Hosni Mubarak's jails.

"He spoke tonight as a man absolutely out of touch with his people ... He tells them 'I'm going to implement reform and I care about the people.' That's meaningless. He's been in power for 30 years, he knows how poor people are."

Protesters have returned to the streets of the Egyptian capital, Cairo, for the fifth consecutive day, following overnight protests across the country staged in defiance of a curfew

'Not enough'

Mubarak's speech is likely to be seen as an attempt to cling to power rather than take concrete steps to solve some of the more pressing problems facing many Egyptians, primarily unemployment and rapidly rising food prices.

Al Jazeera's Ayman Mohyeldin, reporting from Cairo, said many Egyptians calling for change would say the sacking of the government is not enough.

"Ultimately in Egypt, the power lies with the president," he said.

"On paper, you have an independent parliament and an independent judiciary but every Egyptian will tell you that at the end of the day, power is concentrated in the hands of the president.

"Very few institutions can challenge his authority, so the sacking of the cabinet is not going to end the grievances of the people.

"Over the past thirty years, the president has sacked many cabinets before, this time is no different. Some of these cabinet ministers that are serving, like the ministers of interior and defence, between the two of them have been serving for decades.

A sombre looking Mubarak called anti-government protests "part of a bigger plot to shake the stability and destroy legitimacy" of the political system.

He also defended the security forces' crackdown on protesters, saying he had given them instructions that the protesters be allowed to express their views. But, he said, acts of violence and vandalism left the security forces with no choice but to react to restore order.

Even after Mubarak's speech, protesters defied the night curfew and shouted slogans like "Down with Mubarak" in Cairo and other cities.

"We don't care if the government resigns, we want him to resign," Khaled, a 22-year-old demonstrator, said, in the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria.

Authorities had blocked internet, mobile phone and SMS services in an attempt to disrupt planned demonstrations

Demonstartors are demanding that President Hosni Mubarak step down. This man wears a T-shirt reading 'Down With Mubarak'.

The ruling party's headquarters in the Egyptian city of Luxor has been torched as tens of thousands of protesters return to the streets in several cities following overnight demonstrations staged in defience of a curfew.

Thousands of demonstrators have gathered in Tahrir Square and outside the offices of state television in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Saturday, shouting "Go away, go away!".

Similar crowds were gathering in the cities of Alexandria and Suez, Al Jazeera's correspondents reported.

In Alexandria, our correspondent Rawya Rageh reported that scores of marchers were calling on Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak to step down.

"They are calling for regime change, not cabinet change," Rageh said.

She said that they were blocking traffic and shouting "Illegitimate, illegitimate!"

The Reuters news agency reported that police had fired live ammunition at protesters. Independent confirmation of that report is awaited.

In Suez, Al Jazeera's Jamal ElShayyal reported that 1,000-2,000 protesters had gathered, and that the military was not confronting them.

ElShayyal quoted a military officer as saying that troops would "not fire a single bullet on Egyptians", regardless of where the orders to do so come from.

The officer also said the only solution to the current unrest was "for Mubarak to leave".

Mubarak responded by dismissing the government but he is refusing to step down

Journey to the North: Kedah

Bus from Penang leaved around 8.30am, so we arrived to Kedah around 11am. Then we went to una's house to picked her up.

Muzium Padi

Fee RM3(not including fee for camera etc). Worth seeing the painting i think, pak cik muzium ni cakap, the painting was done by 42 Korean who were doing study on art and culture in Asia and they took 9 months to get it done. The painting is very beautiful that you sometime you can feel the real 3D of the art.

Gunung Keriang

Then, we went to Gunung Keriang. It's the place where to buy crystal(not salt crystal, but rock crystal). The price can goes up until thousands depending on the quality and the shape.
We went to Masjid Tambak Bunga after that for Zohor prayer.

Masjid Al-Bukhary
Masjid Albukhary is part of Kompleks Albukhary, a sprawling Islamic centre which includes a medical centre, a community centre, an orphanage, a senior citizen academy and a centre for higher learning. Memang lawa masjid ni, banyaknye pahala beliau buat masjid...

Menara Alor Star

Fee RM4 for student. From up high u can see whole (i think) Alor Star. But, of course it's not as exciting as Taming Sari...

Pekan Rabu

Akhirnya sampai juga ke Pekan Rabu yang selama ni jumpa dalam buku comprehension kat sekolah dulu2. Kuah rojak and dodol and kerepek sangat popular di sini. More less like Pasar Kedai Payang kat Terengganu.

Journey to the North: Penang

Assalamualaikum...

As long as I can remember, i’ve been in Penang only once, many many years ago. Its takes about 2-3 hours from Perlis to Penang. Our arrival greeted by Syida and her father. Before we headed to her house, her father brought us to Kayu Nasi Kandar stall for dinner . I had rice with honey chicken and kuah campur, delicious but then I couldn’t stand the sweetness of the chicken. fyi, there's a lot of nasi kandar stalls and restaurants here, some with funny names; Nasi Kandar Beratur (if u come at 1am, u can find there long q here), Nasi Kandar Line clear(i don't know d story behind it).

We rest really well that night for a full-scheduled next day. This time, Syida’s brother drove us around Penang. A great thanks for Syida and her mom and her dad and her bro and her sis.

· P ramlee

First place we hit next morning is P Ramlee’s house. Supposedly, it opens at 10 am but they open early because people had started to come. Then, we enter the arkib, u can’t take pics here. There’s a pakcik here, he know many thing about P Ramlee, he told us about P Ramlee’s wives and he accepted our request to take pics with him in the archive . Syida’s bro told us that across the arkib is an old house, owned by a very old lady and she known anything about P Ramlee very well.

· Hospital

Like at other negeri we took the pics of its state hospital. Actually, Syida’s mom used to work here as nurse in Ortho ward, so Syida knows a bit about the hospital.

Laman Mempelai

We stopped here on our way to Botanic Gardens (also after going round to see the big houses of rich and famous people). Typical place for married couple to take pics, there where it got its name.

· Botanic gardens

Then we go to Botanical Garden.First time i enter Penang, it's like concrete jungle and i thought, Penang has less green and i was wrong. There's a lot thing to see there, canon-ball tree(first time i see the tree with my bared eyes), small waterfalls, gardens and lily pond. Then we had ice cream to compensate the hot weather...

· Fort Cornwallis

This is the historical site in Penang, RM2 for entry, just like A Famosa, this time the main character is Francis Light. Nothing much here, but it worth it if you u r interested in understanding about VOC etc.

I found this on the carved on the biggest cannon, Seri Rambai, what does it says?

Memorial monument

· Masjid Kapitan Keling

The Kapitan Keling was the first Superintendent of the mosque. He brought in the builders and stones from India for the project. The original mosque structure was a single-storey rectangular building with a sloping roof on all sides and surrounded by a stone bench.

This masjid remind me of masjid near nenek house, masjid sultan sulaiman.

Masjid Negeri

Then we went for solat Zohor here. This masjid is actually inspired by our ex-PM, Tunku Abdul Rahman early 1968.

·Pasar Chowrasta

Penang is popular with pickles, but i'm not one of the fan.

Little India

If i'm not mistaken, Little India is around Pasar Chowrasta. Seeing the place, remind me of nenek's place, Kampung Jawa, Klang very similar,the people, the shops, the view. Syida's bro tod us that there are 7 corner here with different names; Lebuh Chulia, Lebuh Queen, etc

· Masjid Terapung of Tanjung Bungah

Despite its name, the mosque is not floating, but rather standing on pilings and stilts (lagi, time kitorang datang air tengah surut). Nevertheless it is the first mosque to be built in the sea in Malaysia (other floating mosques in Malaysia have so far been built on lakes).

Near to the Masjid Terapung is this apartment which was built for the tsunami's victims.

That night, we have dinner with Syida's family except for her sis. I'm so full because we had our lunch with nasi kandar that afternoon. Unique because the rice serve in a caypot.

Alhamdulilah we went almost all the places of interest stated in the tourist guide, next is to Kedah...here we come!

Sebelum masuk DQ lagi, ayat Quran yang sangat saya suka ialah "berjalanlah kamu di muka bumi..." dan ia pernah menjadi salah satu cita-cita. Berjalanlah, tambah ilmu, tambah kenalan, tambah pengalaman, tambah iman, insyaAllah...^_^

Journey to the North: Perlis

Assalamualaikum..

We reached Kuala Perlis around 6.45pm, Aflah’s dad picked us up at the jetty. As promised, he dropped us to nearest RFC for dinner. This is my first time, so it's very interesting. The food is great and healthy too. Then, we went to the bus station to bought tickets for next trip. The tiring day was covered by having rest in Aflah’s house. Big thanks for Aflah and family for such great hospitality.

The next day, we decided to drove by ourselves so that we won’t disturb Pak Cik Basri…hehe. So we 'departed' at 11am.

· Gua kelam

I’ve been here before, during high school. It is the first place we went that day. Unfortunately, the cave is under construction, so we decided to climb the hill near it. It took us about 15 mins to reached the top, quite challenging, climbing down is harder than climbing up.

· Tasik Melati

It is a recreational place for public. Nothing much to see here. A bunch of kids ran here and there. Guess what? They actually selling siput ketayang to the people. I asked them to show us how they caught the siput and they showed us how. I asked them what they gonna do with the money? Some said to buy phone, to buy bike, kids this day…

· Ladang ostrich

We noticed it on our way to Gua Kelam, so on the way back, we stopped by here. Actually, there are also horses, deers and other animals. According to the pak cik we found there, the land for the rear are wider than what we’ve seen, if we come later that evening, we would have the chance to ride the ostrich and other animals too. Thanks to the pak cik, we’ve the chance to give the ostrich eat earlier.

· Padang besar

Located at the border between Perlis and Siam, it becomes the place where u can find almost anything in cheap price. My bro asked me to buy beads pistols but it’s hard to find the good one. This arcade is where u can find reasonably priced clothing and handicrafts.

· Arau

Then we headed to Arau because we wanted to see Masjid Negeri, Istana and what make Perlis as Bandar Diraja. The hot weather really sucked up our energy, so we headed back to Aflah’s.

· Masjid Syed Putra Jamalullail

On the way, we stop at this masjid. This is one of the most beautiful masjid I’ve ever seen. The architecture is splendid, I would dream of house with the masjid design.

That night, we packed up and exchanged pics. On the same night, I headed to Penang with Mas and Iman.

Each journey is unique and in every trip we start with the history it holds. Here is several advice for enjoyable journey:

-travel light, don’t bring too much thing

-gps is a great company

-set ur budget so that u don’t overspend

-don’t travel in too big group

-plan where u're going, food u must eat, thing u must buy

- camera is a must, phone camera is ok too

-drink a lot of air suam

-avoid eating too much, and don’t skip any meal

-wear strong shoe, so u can walk n discover more
