PAL : General examination on pregnant woman

Assalamualaikum..
Yesterday was a hectic day, anyhow, last night me, hasibah & mas went to met our PAL kak nurul & kak asiah (i was envy with my roommate's PAL cause they met few days before to discuss about our recent PBQ which turned out to be the correct diagnosis, so i texted my PAL and here we are).

After assemble, we chatted on topic regarding the latest PBL on molar pregnancy(thanks to roommate's PAL for the dx).

Then, we approached a patient for examination demo.

1. Inspection; tengok patient alertness consciousness ,if she is lying comfortably.
2. Start examine tangan, look for palmar erythema(liver disease), splinter hemorrhage, clubbing .
3. Head; look on conjunctiva (anemia) , sclera (jaundice), mouth (infection)
4. Leg, sign of edema (normal in pregnancy) , by pressing above medial malleoli and ascend gradually to see how high is the edema goes(as we press the leg , look at patient face if she feels any pain).
5. Abdominal;
-forgot; from start have to read patient's info on the chart.
-start with asking permission to palpate & uncover the abdominal part (do it slowly, gently and carefully)
-look for linea nigra, striae gravidaum (yang kitorang cek takde striae pn, juat linea nigra), the umbilicus (normally inverted) . kak asiah kate kadang2 ada yang striae alba.
-to reckon the fundal height, start palpate the sternum with finger and descend till we reach the uterine fundus(point 1), then start measure using tape from point 1 to the bony below(like in the picture) , our patient's is 36 cm.
- then, from the umbilicus to fundus top, we count how many fingerbreads can be fit in . Our patient's is 8 fingerbreads , so 8x2cm equal to 16cm. (16+20 because from below to umbilicus is approximately 20cm = 36cm ), this 36 cm correspond to 36 weeks. But on the chart, it says 39 weeks, mas guess(which is right) that the baby head has engaged into the cervix.
-then palpate for the position of the fetus, if the back is at the either side, the position of the head (kak nurul can't feel it as the head is already engage into the cervix).
-finish. (this info is from what i learnt last night,do notify me if there is any false info,tq)

Assalamualaikum...
Last weekend i went t the Fiqh Ummah Convension with bella. Its all about knowing the moderate(wasathy) in all aspect of Islam. For the two days, the Asatizah had shared with the us the concept of wasathy in Aqidah, Ibadah, politics, economy, in our daily life and many more. The (among) interesting part is that we were not given pile of paperwork like usual convension, but all the information is compile in a book. Let me know if you want to take a look or borrow it...;)

Jumuah mubarak !

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and (the ones) who are with him are strict against the steadfast disbelievers, constantly merciful among themselves. Allah has promised the ones of them who have believed and done deeds of righteousness forgiveness and a magnificent reward.

Pagi tadi kami didatangi dua berita gembira di pagi Jumaat yang bahagia...
1. Alhamdulilah our batch repeats the KOM record AGAIN for having all PASS in Y2B2 EBE (yeay! mabruk all Zenithians!)
2. JPA scholarship just arrived to our accounts, just in time (so we don't mind much to pay for the notes etc)

Today Jumuah morning air is like a bliss...we came to the class with all wearing white, that Dr Norsidah felt like she is teaching in the madrasah ...lol

Assalamualaikum...

As for myself n lots of others, this block is lapang sebab banyak kali kelas cancel(banyak kelas dgn doc clinical), we had learnt a lot of anatomy(the best part) and the diseases are neither many nor complicated as last block. Owh, plus the programme is also less as our friends from semester would prepare for the final.  So, for those who realize these, i'm so sure they would survive this block very well if they are well prepared. Also, some who realize it but take it for granted, habes la...

So lessons learnt;
1. Keep you notes arranged, according to the subject especially
2. Hold on tight to your study group (this may be vary to other)
3. Do not procrastinate to revise the notes as soon as you have them
4. Understand and involve in the PBL well
5. Do the Qs bank esp for essay & SN
6. Revise tuto
7. Lots of prayers and usaha and sentiasa berlapang dada with others

* I came to realize that studying and revising in the study group helps me a lot, like to hear the comments, the true facts and tips from mates, easier to understand and memorize.

Lastly, block GIT has passed, and passed very fast, some pics from this block...

Update...Masjid baru UIA!

Assalamualaikum...

Just after we finished our pbl, Nad and I went to UIA new masjid, plus we were gladly welcomed by one of the contractors...Dah lama tunggu bila masjid ni nak siap, dah lama kot...alhamdulilah dah nak siap, kate kak tu dalam proses penyerahan kepada UIA.

Memang design typical masjid zaman sekarang macam ni, dewan solat di tengah, di peripheral ruang untuk orang lalu lalang, Masjid Besi, Masjid Kristal, Masjid Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang pun camni jugak. Masjid UIA ni lengkap dengan air-cond , kipas dan exhaust supaya angin panas tak terkumpul lalu tak kepam la orang di dalamnya..

p/s: Tengok gaya sekarang, bulan depan dah boleh start diutilizekan masjid ni, best! boleh dengar ceramah Ust Azhar :)
